School-Based Services

CRC provides mental health services directly within Wood County school districts. Services focus on mental health needs such as anxiety, depression, and trauma as well as overcoming emotional, behavioral, and social barriers to academic success. School-based services allow for close collaboration with school staff and parents/guardians/families to address the needs of the whole child more effectively. We are currently providing services in 10 schools throughout Wood County.

Case Management
School-based Case Managers work on skill building and problem solving to reduce maladaptive and disruptive behaviors within the school. This includes assisting students with the regulation of emotions during the school day, reinforcing/educating coping skills and emotion identification, and ensuring students have basic needs met at home.

Therapy
School-based Therapists are licensed staff that work to understand why and how to change current maladaptive behaviors and thoughts in high-risk students. With a focus on cognitive and emotional distortions, they help students identify and process root causes to eliminate social conflict and safety concerns.

Please note, while we don’t accept direct referrals from parents/guardians for specific programs, every child will receive a comprehensive mental health assessment prior to receiving services. This process is designed to develop a diagnostic forumulation and identify the child’s relevant needs. The mental health assessment forms the basis for all subsequent treatment planning.
