Join us for ACT: Raising Safe Kids, a free program that teaches positive parenting skills for families of Wood, Lucas, or Ottawa County with children age 0-10.
Tuesdays from 6:00pm-7:30pm beginning January 21, 2025 - March 11, 2025 (total of 8 classes). Referrals accepted until 1/13/25.
All classes virtual with exception of first and last class being in person. Dinner and childcare provided both nights!
This program is available for parents or caregivers:
Who have a child that is 10 years old or younger or parent who is currently expecting
Are a Wood, Lucas, or Ottawa County resident
Have a willingness to learn or have challenges in relation to behaviors, emotional regulation in parent and or child, age-appropriate discipline strategies and expectations, and some difficulty understanding the impact of trauma/adverse experience on young children,
Have internet and a device with Zoom capabilities
Are available Mondays from 6pm-7:30pm
Participants will:
Discuss the concept of child development & children’s challening behaviors
Learn the concept of REACT & RESPOND
Learn how to prevent challenging behaviors through positive dicipline
Understand consequences of children’s exposure to violence
Learn how to understand, express, and control feelings
Teach children to control anger and resolve conflicts
Differentiate the difference between DISCIPLINE and PUNISHMENT
