Undergraduate

There are many opportunities for undergraduate level interns at CRC. Although we can't guarantee participation in any one specific area, our interns often participate in one or more of the programs listed below. This allows them to gain experience in different treatment types and behavioral health programming, providing valuable insights and skills. We expect those interning and volunteering to commit to a minimum of 4 hours per week for the length of the semester.

Day Treatment Group Therapy
Interns work with severely emotionally disturbed children and adolescents within a structured environment to help prevent out-of-home placements in our Day Treatment Group Therapy program. Interns learn to monitor each child’s individualized set of behavioral goals and assist in the development of social, vocational, educational, and recreational skills by participating in structured group activities.

Transportation
Generally done in conjunction with Day Treatment, interns assist transportation staff by riding along on the agency vans and supervising children by monitoring conversations and activities.

Residential Services
CRC’s Residential Services provide short-term assessment, treatment, and crisis intervention for youth 4-17 when safety may be at risk for themselves or others. Interns serve as positive role models, participate in activities, assist with daily routines, and encourage skill development to reach set goals.

Mobile Response Stabilization Services (MRSS):
CRC’s MRSS program provides mobile response services to provide crisis intervention wherever the client is located to prevent out of home placement. The MRSS team is expected to respond within an hour of the referral. Interns will join staff on calls to gain experience in crisis situations.

Graduate

Graduate level interns participate in CRC programming, allowing them to gain hands-on experience to not only enhance their skills and knowledge but also provide a solid foundation for their future careers in this exciting field. At this time, graduate level internship opportunities are only available for those obtaining a master’s degree in social work or counseling.

School-Based
Interns can gain experience in our school-based programming. Interns will provide services to children and families residing within one of Wood County’s ten school districts. They will maintain offices within their respective schools as an outreach to provide services within the local community. This enhances the integration of family, school, and agency as a coordinated treatment team so that intervention efforts can be directed toward the “whole child” more effectively.

Outpatient Therapy
Interns will work with staff to provide outpatient therapy services to youth who experience difficulties in social and emotional functioning. Therapists provide a evidence-based, trauma-informed treatment models specific to diagnosis and mutually defined goals.
