Co-Occurring Disorders Services

Our Co-Occurring Disorders (COD) services provide treatment to youth and adolescents struggling with mental health and substance use. This program offers multiple levels of care to meet the needs of each adolescent and address the underlying causes of mental health issues that contribute to substance use and high-risk behaviors.

Youth engage in COD activities up to four days a week including one day of individual counseling, two days of group counseling, and one day of case management. Individual counseling consists of face-to-face encounters between youth and one of our Behavioral Health Specialists. Group counseling consists of sessions that explore the ramifications of substance use/abuse, examine attitude and feelings towards such, and teach alternative solutions and decision making. Case Management services assist youth in gaining access to medical, social, educational, and other essential services to meet basic human needs.

Goals:

  • Identification of triggers for substance use

  • Education regarding substances and effects on the body

  • Identification of healthy coping/regulation skills to deal with stress and mental health symptoms

  • Increase healthy relationships and support

  • Develop strategies to reduce and prevent substance use

OneOhio Recovery Foundation
Our COD program is made possible with grant funding from the OneOhio Recovery Foundation. The OneOhio Recovery Foundation is a private, non-profit foundation created under the leadership of Governor Mike DeWine and Attorney General Dave Yost, and other state and local leaders, with the mission of advancing Ohio’s addiction prevention, treatment, and recovery efforts now and into the future. The Foundation is governed by a 29-member board from across Ohio and is funded by 55 percent of settlement funds that Ohio is receiving from the pharmaceutical industry as a consequence of its role in the national opioid epidemic. Funds support local efforts to prevent and combat addiction and are also invested to support those efforts for the long term.

Please note, while we don’t accept direct referrals from parents/guardians for specific programs, every child will receive a comprehensive mental health assessment prior to receiving services. This process is designed to develop a diagnostic forumulation and identify the child’s relevant needs. The mental health assessment forms the basis for all subsequent treatment planning.

Payment and Coverage
All services provided by CRC (excluding Prevention Services) are billed through the client’s insurance. CRC accepts Medicaid and most health insurance plans. No one will be denied access to services due to inability to pay. For remaining portions of the client’s bill, funding through the Wood County Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) Board Levy allows us to offer services to Wood County residents under a generous sliding fee scale based on income and household size. Proof of income documentation must be provided to qualify.
